Growth Management Recommendations (2007)

As a subcontractor to Robert and Company, the firm prepared a report evaluating and recommending various growth management tools. Among the tools recommended was a growth phasing program.

Wayne County, OH
Agricultural Land Use Policy Audit (2007)

Weitz & Associates is a consultant to the Wayne County Board of Commissioners to assist in conducting a policy audit of agricultural land use. This project has local and institutional sponsors.

Legal-Technical Report (2005)

The Metro Chamber contracted with Weitz & Associates to help finalize the report of the Legal-Technical Committee, which was formed after the Quality Growth Task Force was concluded, to investigate legal obstacles to the implementation of quality growth in the metro Atlanta area.

Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC)
Regional Development Plan Guidebook (2003-2004)

Weitz and Associates completed a guidebook on the quality growth tools provided in ARC’s quality growth toolkit.  The guidebook summarizes each tool, provides one or more examples, describes obstacles to implementation, and identifies “best practices” for implementation.

Regional Business Coalition of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc.
State of Smart Growth in the Atlanta Region: A Regulatory Review (2004)

As a follow up to earlier efforts, the firm completed an audit of regulations in the Atlanta region.  This project resulted in a report published by the Atlanta Regional Commission. The Livable Communities Coalition has taken on responsibilities for updating this research project.

Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce (MACOC)
2030 Land Use Project (2003-2004) 

Weitz consulted with MACOC on its 2030 land use project with regard to data sources, transportation and land use policy, and presentation strategies. 

City of Cornelia, GA
Quality Growth Audit (2003)

Weitz & Associates conducted a smart growth audit of Cornelia’s zoning and subdivision regulations and prepared amendments to them to promote quality growth. This project was funded in part by a grant from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA)
Guidebook for Area of Influence (AOI) Analyses
Development of Regional Impact (DRI) Process (2002) 

Weitz & Associates contracted with GRTA to provide guidelines for developers to use in preparing the “area of influence” analyses, which are required as part of development of regional impact (DRI) application submissions. This work included analysis of the validity and reliability of data sources, suggestions on methods, and recommendations on rule interpretations. This project resulted in a technical assistance report (guidebook).

Atlanta Regional Commission
Quality Growth Toolkit (2001) 

As subcontractor to Jordan, Jones and Goulding, Weitz & Associates prepared two tool descriptions, jobs-housing balance and smart growth audits, for the Georgia Quality Growth Tool Kit. Both tool descriptions were subsequently published with permission of ARC as Planning Advisory Service (PAS) Reports by the American Planning Association.

American Planning Association
Growing Smart Legislative Guidebook, User Manual (2001)

Weitz & Associates was hired by the Research Department of the American Planning Association (APA) to prepare a user manual for the legislative guidebook published by the Growing Smart project.  The final guidebook and manual were published by APA in 2002.
