Jerry Weitz to
Facilitate APA Event Again
Jerry Weitz has been invited to facilitate
a session of the American Planning Association (APA) Board
of Directors and the Commission of the American Institute
of Certified Planners (AICP) on updating the organization's
Development Plan. The facilitation will take place
during a APA-AICP retreat scheduled for February 2009 at
Jekyll Island, GA. Weitz served in the same role
in 2003. "It is an honor and privilege to be
selected again for this facilitation task, Weitz said."

Jerry Weitz Named "Fellow
of AICP" Effective April 27, 2008
Jerry Weitz was elected to Fellow in the
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) in the
category of professional practice (effective April 27,
2008). The website of the American Planning Association
(APA) describes this honor as follows:
“Election to
Fellow in AICP is one of the highest honors that
the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) bestows
upon a member. This honor is a recognition of the achievements
of the planner as an individual, elevating the Fellow
before the public and the profession as a model planner
who has made significant contributions to planning and
society. Fellowship is granted to planners who have been
members of AICP and have achieved excellence in professional
practice, teaching and mentoring, research, public/community
service, and leadership. Those chosen become members
of the College of Fellows.”

Dr. Weitz Delivers
Paper and Presentation on Little-Known Georgia Laws
At the Georgia Planning Association’s Spring Conference
in Decatur, on April 17, 2008, Jerry Weitz delivered a
paper and presentation titled “Uncovering Obscurity:
Georgia’s Little-Known Land Use Laws.”
